Child safety and potential flooding are among the concerns of Quilty residents following the discovery of a water leak in a local sea structure.
The Quilty “model” was installed in 2023 to facilitate the passage of water from Lough Donnell to the ocean but an online video has shed light on a major breakage in the structure.
In a statement to Clare FM, Clare County Council says it’s “aware of the issues at Lough Donnell” and is working with “consultants, local landowners and the statutory authorities” to address the problem.
Quilty native and Clare Beef Plan Chair Joseph Woulfe says if the condition of the structure disimproves, there could be serious consequences for the area.
