
Franklin police: Convicted sex offender accused of buying, trading weapons
A Franklin man convicted of rape in 1999 is now facing a new charge, accused of buying and trading weapons.The investigation began when Franklin police said they were notified that 64-year-old Robert Gale, who is a registered sex offender, was allegedly in possession of firearms and allegedly buying and trading weapons.During the investigation, Franklin police, along with the Warren County Sherriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at a home on Clay Street Wednesday.At the home, officials found several firearms, long guns and ammunition.When Gale was interviewed by detectives, officials said he admitted to possessing the firearms, along with buying and trading them, saying he does not buy and trade for profit but more for a hobby.Gale was charged with weapons under disability and transported to the Warren County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 bond. He is set to appear in court on Sept. 1.
