BEDFORD – A Bedford man, who is a convicted sex offender, was arrested after he failed to possess a state-issued identification card or driver’s license.

According to Detective Sgt. Michael Ramos 54-year-old Troy Terry, of Bedford, was convicted of child molestation on September 20, 1995, in Jasper, Indiana. He is classified as a sexually violent predator and is required to register with the State of Indiana and possess a Bureau of Motor Vehicle identification card or driver’s license.

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles reported Terry’s Indiana identification card expired on April 24, 2015.

On May 16, 2023, Terry was interviewed by Chief Deputy Tony Siedl and Lawrence County Receptionist Larry Reed. Terry admitted to only possessing an Indiana Department of Corrections identification. He told investigators that he needed to obtain his birth certificate to get the identification. Terry said he “would try to fix” the problem.

On June 13, 2023, investigators again interviewed Terry about him obtaining his identification. He was told to get his identification by Friday, June 16, 2023.

On June 21, 2023, Sgt. Lonnie Johnson located Terry at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home and he was arrested on a charge of failure to make, keep or furnish records.
