A convicted sex offender was arrested for not reporting his current residence, the Webb County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division launched an investigation on a registered sex offender after investigators received information that he was not residing at his registered address in the Las Lomas subdivision on U.S. 59.
Authorities identified the suspect as Justin Sanchez, 33.
Investigators verified the information through the Texas Department of Public Safety website and confirmed that Sanchez was not living at said address. Investigators tracked the suspect down to the Webb County Jail, where he was detained for an unrelated charge, authorities said.
Sanchez was then served with a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender, a third degree felony.
“I congratulate my team of investigators for following up and working relentlessly to capture this suspect. Even though he is in jail on unrelated charges, we now know his whereabouts and he will be less of a threat to our community,” said Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
