A Pennsylvania appellate court has upheld the lengthy prison sentence of a convicted sexual predator from Penndel Borough.

Louis Charles Aiello, a 61-year-old former singer and DJ from Penndel Borough, was convicted in December 2021 of sexually abusing multiple boys over a span of 17 years.

The decision issued last week by Superior Court judges Alice B. Dubow, Maria McLaughlin, and Megan McCarthy King rejected Aiello’s appeal. It affirmed his 49 to 98 years in state prison.

Aiello, who was sentenced in December 2021 by Bucks County Court of Common Pleas Judge Diane Gibbons, was designated as a sexually violent predator by the state Sex Offender Assessment Board. He faced charges including rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child among others.

During the appeal, Aiello contested the consolidation of child pornography charges with sexual abuse charges. He claims there was a lack of connection between the pornographic images and the sexual abuse allegations. He also challenged the validity of the search warrant executed in June 2020, claiming it was based on outdated information. Aiello maintained that the evidence used in the warrant was stale as the last alleged abuse and last seen pornographic image dated back to 2010 and 2011.

Also in his appeal, Aiello argued that his sentence was excessive given his lack of prior criminal record, history of addiction, and his rehabilitative needs. He also disputed the court’s decision to classify him as a sexually violent predator mandated to register as a sex offender for life, arguing the prosecution did not sufficiently prove an increased likelihood of reoffense.

The Superior Court panel found no merit in Aiello’s claims and upheld the outcome of the case.

Aiello’s crimes were brought to light after investigations by Falls Township police, Penndel Borough police, and the Bucks County Detectives.

The man was accused of sexually abusing five boys between 1993 and 2010. A sixth boy said Aiello exposed himself.

The sexual assaults occurred at residences in Bensalem Township and Penndel Borough where Aiello was known to have frequently invited minor boys to his home, according to neighbor accounts.

Aiello had a bench trial in July 2021 where he was found guilty.

At the trial, a psychologist with the Sexual Offenders Assessment Board, Dr. Kristen Dudley, testified that Aiello met the criteria of a sexually violate predator.
