A 49-year-old Dwight man, who is a convicted sexual predator, was arrested by the Will County Sheriff’s Office on July 7th. Craig Gregory is accused of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old in unincorporated Wilmington Township back in 2013.
In January of 2020, an outcry was made to police officials by the victim. A Victim Sensitive Interview was conducted with the victim, and the allegations were determined to be credible. Gregory refused to speak with detectives regarding the allegations in September of 2020.
Detectives continued to pursue additional evidence and statements from individuals connected to this almost ten-year-old incident. After gathering enough information, charges were eventually filed against Gregory as he remains in the Will County Jail on a $400,000 bond.
Gregory is a register sex offender. He was sentenced to prison for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse and Indecent Solicitation of a Child from Cook County. Gregory was 39 at the time and the victim was 13.
