Cottage Hills man charged with failure to register as sex offender | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey


EDWARDSVILLE – A Cottage Hills man who allegedly failed to register as a sex offender was among those charged with felonies Tuesday by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Nicholas M. Hohensee, 28, of Cottage Hills, was charged July 18 with unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony.

The case was presented by the Bethalto Police Department.

According to court documents, on July 11 Hohensee allegedly failed to report a change of address to the Bethalto Police Department.

According to the Illinois State Police sex offender database, he is listed as a “noncompliant sexual predator,” with prior convictions for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and violation of sex offender registration.

According to the database the victim was 14 at the time of the offense, and he was 21.

Bail was set at $30,000.

Other felony charges filed July 18 include:

• David R. Hollenback, 29, of Granite City, was charged with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. According to court documents, on January 12 Hollenback allegedly had a set of brass knuckles. He has a conviction for offenses relating to motor vehicles out of Madison County in 2018, making him ineligible to possess weapons. Bail was set at $75,000.

• Exavier K. Triplett, 31, of Alton, was charged with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on July 17 Triplett allegedly was found to have a 9 mm Smith & Wesson handgun. He has a conviction for aggravated theft out of Ohio in 2018, making him ineligible to possess weapons. Bail was set at $50,000.

• Bryanna S. Phipps, 34, of Fairview Heights, was charged with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a Class 4 felony. The case was presented by the Roxana Police Department. According to court documents, on July 7 Phipps allegedly was driving a Dodge Charger when she attempted to flee from a Roxana police officer, reaching speeds in excess of 21 miles above the posted speed limit. Bail was set at $40,000.

These individuals have only been charged and remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. All charges may not be reported.
