Cupertino Blotter: Suspect allegedly changes Prius odometer and then sells car to resident

Compiled from officers of the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department’s West Valley Substation.

Trespassing and drugs–July 2, 9:50 a.m. Vallco Parkway. A suspect was trespassing and was in possession of a bag of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The individual was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Identity theft–July 1, 7:21 p.m. Calle de Barcelona. Someone opened a credit card account using a resident’s name and personal information.

Theft–July 1, 7:13 p.m. Stevens Creek Boulevard. A suspect was cited for stealing $81.96 worth of merchandise and cash.

Theft–July 1, 2:24 p.m. Homestead Road. There was a report of an employee stealing $1,231.45 worth of prescription medication. The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

Counterfeiting–June 30, 5:25 p.m. S. De Anza Boulevard. Someone tried to pass a fake $1,682 check.

Vehicle burglary–June 30, 1:29 p.m. Someone stole credit cards, an ATM card, a driver’s license and a checkbook from a 2004 Volvo XC70.

Vehicle tampering–June 28, 4:09 p.m. Sorenson Avenue and Craft Drive. A suspect sold a victim a 2010 Toyota Prius for $9,000. The suspect is alleged to have altered the odometer to display a number different than the actual mileage. The suspect also is alleged to have altered the odometer information on the pink slip.

Vehicle burglary–June 29, 3:20 p.m. Brewer Avenue and Dexter Drive. Someone entered a victim’s unlocked 2007 Jeep Liberty. A laptop was stolen from the floorboards near the front passenger seat. The laptop is valued at $1,000.
