Cybersecurity is the primary concern for IT leaders as we approach 2024, according to a recent report from digital infrastructure advisory platform UPSTACK.

The company’s inaugural Technology Trends Report revealed concerns rose following several successful network breaches, which included data loss, reputational harm, and potential revenue and customer setbacks.

UPSTACK surveyed over 40 of its technology experts, who collectively have more than 500 years of experience assisting enterprises in leveraging technology for their business objectives.

Factors Amplifying Cybersecurity Concerns

The notable challenges driving the cybersecurity priority include the high costs associated with network breaches and an ongoing shortage in security talent. This deficit underscores the importance for organizations to select appropriate vendors to fortify their defense mechanisms.

The report also highlighted other areas of emphasis for IT leaders in 2024:

  • Customer Experience (CX): Leveraging automation and AI technologies can help firms ensure consistent customer interactions, enhancing scalability and minimizing overhead costs.
  • Hybrid Data Center/Cloud: The rise in the utilization of resource-intensive applications, such as AI, AR, and VR, signifies the growing need for IT infrastructure. A combined data center and cloud approach is recommended, allowing organizations to adjust workloads based on factors like cost, usage, and compliance.

Other areas of concern include:

  • Cloud/Managed Hosting Services
  • Connectivity
  • IoT
