In a statement, the center said that accepting friend
requests or adding people from unknown accounts on social media platforms

By adding unknown accounts, hackers could gain access to
important and private information, which can be used against the account owner,
the statement added.

The announcement was part of the “Communicate Safely” campaign
launched by the center.
