Danger alert at Laois school due to broken safety lights | #schoolsaftey

Safety warning lights at a school in the Slieve Booms have not worked in some time according to a councillor who called for them to be fixed.

Cllr Paddy Bracken, Fianna Fáil, tabled a motion at a recent meeting with Laois County Council.

He appealed to the local authority to replace the broken flashing beacons at Derrylamogue NS, Rosenallis.

“They have been out of action for quite some time. It is very necessary for the school that they work,” he said.

He added that the lights are particularly important during winter weather when the daylight hours are shorter.

He was supported by Cllr Seams McDonald who claimed it has been an issue for more than a year and it was dangerous at the school.

Paul McLoughlin, Senior Engineer, replied that the Council’s Road Design section would arrange for the replacement of the flashing warning signs as requested.

The issue was raised at a recent meeting of the Borris-in-Ossory Mountmellick Municipal. District.
