A man who “poses a real danger to children” was caught in a sting by Kirklees Police.

Child sexual predator Liam l’Anson North, 29, believed he was talking to a 13-year-old girl online. He soon turned the conversation sexual as he attempted to get the schoolgirl to engage in sexual activity.

Little did sick I’Anson North know, he was actually speaking to an undercover West Yorkshire Police (WYP). Now he has been locked up for three years and four months in prison.

l’Anson North, 29, from Middleton, Rochdale, was arrested by officers in June 2021 and charged on February 18, 2022. He appeared before Leeds Crown Court where he was found guilty of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and two offences of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity. On Monday, July 24, he was sentenced at to three years and four months in prison.

Police first became suspicious of I’Anson in the middle of 2021 when an account using an alias created by l’Anson North made contact via social media with a WYP controlled account. Investigations were carried out by the Kirklees Online Investigation Team and the West Yorkshire Police Digital Forensics Unit.

Working together, the teams were able to uncover a number of messages from l’Anson’s computer and phones – despite the predator’s desperate attempts to delete them and hide his sick activity.
