PERRY COUNTY, PA — Authorities in Central Pennsylvania are searching for a convicted violent sex offender after he missed his sentencing hearing last week.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Barry Allen Bostwick, 60, of Rye Township, after the Perry County Sheriff’s Office said he failed to appear for his Sept. 14 sentencing. Bostwick, convicted earlier this year of multiple counts of deviate sexual intercourse with a child, has been deemed a sexually violent predator by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board, authorities said.

Authorities believe Bostwick may be camping or hiking along the Susquehanna River or Appalachian Trail in the Duncannon and Marysville areas, police said.

Bostwick should be considered armed and dangerous, according to authorities.

Bostwick is a white man who is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 195 pounds. He has brown eyes and hair, authorities said.

Anyone with information on Bostwick’s whereabouts should contact the Perry County Sheriff’s Office at 717-582-5123, Pennsylvania State Police at 717-567-3110 or their local law enforcement agency.
