A Delaware police officer suffered severe head injuries after being attacked inside a home early Sunday morning in Delmar, Sussex County, according to court documents obtained by Action News.

New now at 11:00, a Delaware police officer is being treated for serious injuries tonight after being assaulted in Delmar, Sussex County. Police say it happened early Sunday morning in the 11000 block of Buckingham Drive in the Yorkshire Estates community. Corporal Keith Heacock was responding to a home for a fight in progress and became involved in a physical altercation. He was later found unconscious inside the home. Police arrested 30-year-old Randon D. Wilkerson in connection with the assault. He’s facing several charges, including attempted murder.
