Description General Summary:
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership and guidance in developing, coordinating and implementing security strategies and solutions for Gonzaba Medical Group (GMG). This hands-on position is primarily responsible for safeguarding the confidentiality, availability and integrity of GMG’s systems and data. The Director of Information Technology is also responsible for information security regardless of the form that the information takes (electronic, CD, embedded in products or processes, etc.), the information handling technology employed (servers, desktops, fax machines, telephones, local area networks, etc.), or the people involved (contractors, consultants, employees, vendors, outsourcing firms, etc.). The Director of Information Technology collaborates with team members, service providers, senior leadership to establish goals and define the Technology Services Management strategy and objectives. Additional responsibilities include management of GMG’s security architecture and security tools, security and risk advisory consulting for the business, support for regulatory requirements and IT-related audits, and coordination of investigations and audit of information security breaches.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Director of Information Technology provides formal supervision and coaching for the Information Technology team and sets vision and direction to inspire and drive continuous improvement of policies, standards and procedures to ensure GMG can achieve its business objectives in a trusted computing environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner.

The Director of Information Technology will play a hands-on role in the day-to-day operations of the IT Department. This position will work with all levels of company team members and support the development of IT strategy to accomplish corporate goals. The individual will be involved in managing a wide variety of IT initiatives.
•Recommends and plans information technology to support and meet company objectives based on research and evaluation
•Directs and manages the support and maintenance of business applications, including management of related vendor relationships
•Directs implementation and execution of new/upgraded information systems and network infrastructure through well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines, and accountability
•Evaluates and implements IT procedures and equipment for maximum efficiency and cost containment
•Manages all IT related personnel, vendors and service providers (internal and external)
•Ensures users are provided professional, courteous, and timely support and service
•Structures, leads, trains, and develops IT staff
•Stays abreast of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance
•Responsible for the development, review, and certification of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.
•Manages user services such as IT Help Desk and training
•Develops and establishes operating policies and approaches for computing, internet presence and information technology
•Interacts with IT Strategy Committee regarding internal and external operations that are impacted by the capture, storage, processing and dissemination of information
•Oversees the security of the information and internet systems, communication lines, and equipment
•Exercise discretion and independent judgment
•Maintains strict confidentiality
•Other duties as assigned

Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or closely related field, required. Master’s degree preferred. Certifications in Network+ and Security+ required. CISSP or CISM preferred. MCP required. MCSA preferred.

Experience:
Minimum six (6) years of experience as an Information Technology Manager or Director. Eight (8) years of experience preferred. Physician practice experience preferred. EMR/EHR experience preferred. In-depth experience and knowledge of enterprise IT concerns and technologies, including but not limited to:
•Security Administration : VPN’s, encryption, authentication, application-level network protocols, PKI, IPSec, Firewall, SSH, SSL, DES, Internet security, secure electronic credit card processing
•Network Administration : LAN/WAN, and TCP/IP, routers, network switches, Internet protocols, networking protocols
•Systems Administration: Microsoft operating systems (server and desktop), Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, cloud-based technologies, BI tools, backup applications
•Enterprise Applications: EMR/EHR, Microsoft Office Professional
•HIPAA Security Officer: Information security regulations applicable to HIPAA, IT risk and compliance management, and various other privacy laws

Other Requirements:
•Driving Skills: Clear driving record, a Class C Texas Driver’s License, and a personal vehicle is required

Work Environment:
Depending the area assigned, may be 100% clinical setting or office setting in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

Mental / Physical Requirements:
Requires manual dexterity, sitting, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Close vision and ability to adjust focus.
