MEMORIAL HOSPITAL of LAFAYETTE COUNTY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT

POSITION TITLE: Director of IT and Security Officer, MHLC

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

REPORTS TO: Administrator, MHLC

FLSA Category: Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Network administration

Documentation of procedures

Security Officer: Responsible for the ongoing management of information security, policies, procedures, and technical systems in order to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all organizational healthcare information systems.

Storage, backup and VMware (Virtualization)

Organization, inventory and documentation of all IT assets, licenses, etc.

PC and printer assembly, installation, troubleshooting and maintenance

Software installation, configuration, maintenance and support

First-call helpdesk management, user security setup

Assist in HIPAA policy development and compliance to include

Enforce MHLC’s written HIPAA policies

Document all hardware/software issues and changes as needed to include virus infections, hard drive removal, PC replacements, etc.

Update MHLC’s HIPAA technical policies

Keep current on HIPAA regulations

Review user access/log-in logs when needed

End User training, including MS Office and Windows XP and Windows 7

Directs the IT functions of the MHLC Administrative assistant

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Work to align projects and process improvement with the strategic implementation plans defined by the Executive Team

Ensure that the appropriate processes, workflows and technology tools are in place to maximize productivity for MHLC providers, clinical staff, support staff and administration

Plan, direct and control operation of assigned functional departments to achieve goals with budgeted funds and available personnel

RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Director of IT and Security

Wireless/Ethernet network troubleshooting

PC Hardware troubleshooting

Support of the LAN/WAN environment, including first-call troubleshooting and WAN and LAN device maintenance

Windows support

TCP/IP, DNS, Active Directory and Group Policies general knowledge

Support of test environments

Basic HMS/Citrix troubleshooting

Network management support

Telecommunications system support

SMARTBoard, hand held scanners support

Coordinate multiple projects and deadlines

Create and maintain a professional work environment

Assume responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development

Demonstrate creative problem solving and effective conflict resolution skills

Ability to support the IT infrastructure and access as it relates to the practice of medicine

In house lead on EPIC implementation and Medhost support

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Technical degree in computer technology or related training and experience

Computer certification(s) desirable

At least two (2) years experience in computer systems administration, repair and support

Network administration experience

Telecommunications system experience desirable

SKILLs:
Must have strong organizational skills, the ability to resolve complex problems quickly and effectively

Strong communication skills

Basic understanding of medicine and patient care workflow

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires functional vision and hearing

Requires ability to sit for long periods of time

Requires manual finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination

Must be able to function in an office setting with background noise and distractions

Requires clear verbal communication

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasionally called upon to work extra time or irregular schedules

Must be available to be on-call some week-ends and nights
