Disney Gift Card Hackers Reportedly Steal Hundreds From Unsuspecting Fans | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

Please note that the story outlined in this article is based on a personal Disney Parks guest experience. No two guest experiences are alike, and this article does not necessarily align with Disney Dining’s personal views on Disney Park operations.

When it comes to planning a trip to Disney Parks, there are numerous factors to consider. From accommodation to food and souvenirs, the expenses can add up quickly. This is where Disney gift cards come into play. By purchasing a Disney gift card, visitors gain the flexibility to manage their budget while still enjoying all that the parks have to offer. In addition to this convenience, Disney gift card sellers often offer discounts on large purchases.

However, new reports are indicating that fans should perhaps be concerned about buying these cards.

What Is Gift Card Hacking

One of the greatest advantages of Disney gift cards is the convenience they provide. They can be purchased in various denominations, allowing visitors to choose the amount that best suits their needs. Whether it’s a small amount for snacks and beverages or a larger sum for dining and merchandise, there is a Disney gift card option for everyone.

Recently, many fans took advantage of a Costco deal that offered a discount on Disney gift cards. One family in particular allegedly bought $500 worth of these gift cards to spend on their upcoming Disney vacation. Instead, this family was met with shock and horror when they allegedly went to use them at Disneyland Resort and found out that their gift card balance was $0.00.

According to the family, this was done with ease. They said;

“A thief only needs the order number and email address used to order to go to Costco’s website and lookup the gift card numbers. The thief then uses Disney’s online gift card website to transfer the balance to one of the two $250 gift cards and then transfer the entire $500 to another GC of their own.”

PSA: Do not buy Disney Gift cards from Costco online!!!! And if you have, you should immediately transfer the balance to a physical Disney gift card!

How to Protect Your Money

This issue is not only happening with Disney gift cards; gift card scamming has been a popular thing this holiday season.

On Costco’s website, dozens of fans report this phenomenon happening to them as well. One victim says;

“BYER BEWARE! 2 Disney Cards purchased online on Dec. 15, somehow “merged to another card on Dec 16th”. Was not done by me! Zero balance on cards when went to purchase WDW tickets for my grandson on Dec 18th. I am hoping that this vendor, Incomm, will not be allowed to represent Costco Company in the future. I am emailing back and forth with the Costco Resolution Team as we speak, and I hope no one is able to make this same purchase in the future!
I know there are multiple issues like mine, not only on this website but also many negative reviews on Trustpilot, regarding this matter. The vendor Costco is using is INCOMM. Stay away from Disney Gift Cards from Costco!!”

The thought of losing so much of your money in this way is truly tragic and should be a reminder of internet safety. If you have purchased a Disney Gift card online, it is critical that you merge that card with a physical card that you have as soon as possible. Doing this will help eliminate the risk of your money being stolen.

Hopefully, the victims of this situation will be able to find a way to get their money back from their hacked gift card purchase.
