The police said a case has been registered and they have formed a special team to analyse CCTV cameras and other evidence to nab the absconding accused.

“Kamaraj had been eyeing for a top post in the party in the Thiruvottiyur area. As per our initial inquiry, this incident could have been due to a previous enmity as well since he is involved in contract work,” said a police officer involved in the investigation.

“We are carrying out an inquiry and hope to arrest the assailants soon,” added the officer.
