Law enforcement took their training to the streets of Banks County and wound up charging dozens of people for traffic violations.

Multiple agencies attended the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety training event at Southside Church in Banks Crossing. They then conducted a two-hour-long safety check on Highway 441 at English Road.

During the safety check, which was led by the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement made contact with 470 vehicles. Those stops resulted in six DUI citations, five distracted driving violations, three citations for driving on a suspended license, three for no insurance, and 24 miscellaneous infractions.

In addition, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office says officers located three people who were wanted by law enforcement.

Officers conducted 23 child safety seat inspections and replaced ten of those car seats.

In reference to the GOHS training and safety check, the Banks County Sheriff’s Office says, “Our goal is to keep our roadways safe for Banks County citizens and those traveling on the roads in our county.”
