Drunk banned from contacting mum found sleeping on Longton Park bench | #DatingScams | #LoveScams | #RomanceScans

Drunken Steven Cartlidge has been jailed after turning up his mum’s house to beg for money – despite being banned from doing so. The 44-year-old has now committed seven breaches of a restraining order banning him from contacting his mother or going to her street.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard his mum was left upset after he again went to her address to ask for cash. The police were called and Cartlidge was found asleep on a bench in Longton Park. He told officers he had a knife and they took it from him.

He said he had used it to harm himself and there was a cut to his neck. Now Cartlidge has been jailed for 15 months. And he was warned by the judge that every time he breaches the restraining order or carries a knife he will go to prison.

Prosecutor Amrisha Parathalingam said Cartlidge was made the subject of a restraining order in April which prohibited him from having any contact with his mum. But his brother visited her on September 24 and saw Cartlidge there.

Miss Parathalingam said: “His mum told him the defendant had been asking for money. The police were called.

“They searched the area. He was found asleep on a park bench. He was found to be in possession of a Stanley knife.”
