East Alton man charged for failing to register as sex offender | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey


EDWARDSVILLE — An East Alton man was charged with failure to register as a sex offender Thursday by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Michael C. Cherry, 34, with an unknown East Alton address, was charged Oct. 19 with unlawful failure to register as a sex offender (second subsequent offense), a Class 2 felony.

The case was presented by the East Alton Police Department.

According to court documents, on Sept. 20 Cherry failed to register with the East Alton Police Department.

He was ordered released from custody.

In an unrelated case, Danell S. Brown, 47, of the 2100 block of College Avenue, Alton, was charged with unlawful violation of an order of protection (second subsequent offense), a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Alton Police Department.

According to court documents, on Sept. 22 Brown violated an active order of protection by being in a restricted area.

It was noted he has a prior conviction for unlawful violation of an order of protection out of Madison County in 2022.
