Others will be walking or riding a bicycle to and from school.That’s why it’s extremely important that drivers are always alert. Be mindful of school buses, especially when a school bus is stopped with its flashing lights and stop arm extended. According to South Carolina law, if you’re on a two-lane road, all cars on the road are required to stop. On multilane highways, only cars traveling in the direction of the bus need to stop. Drivers should also watch out for school zones and crossing guards. So slow down, put down the phone, and pay attention behind the wheel. Back-to-school time is busy for all of us. But we believe if we do our part and drive safely, we can make the roads safer for our children.
