Lucknow: Led by ‘power angels’, the education department, in collaboration with Unicef, will celebrate Child Rights Week from Saturday (November 18).During the week-long intensive campaign that will focus on equality and inclusion for every child, government experts will deliver talk on laws, schemes and benefits for children.Children will indulge in ‘learn with fun’ activities like quiz, story, poem, slogan, debate, science projects, handicraft, song, dance, skits, and events on child rights. A film festival will also be organised in which one film will be screened every day in state-run schools, including Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.Nearly 1.2 lakh ‘power angels’ – one girl each from class 6, 7 and 8 in state-run schools – will lead the campaign. They will plan and organise events including sports day, health, nutrition and hygiene check-up of children, nukkad natak in schools or community, with support of nodal teachers and school management committees (SMCs).A cultural mela will be organised and student representatives will also carry out a survey with peers on child rights theme/ gender equality and share issues/suggestions with SMCs, principals, and officials.
