Pioneer Union Elementary School Principal Boyd Holler wasn’t in a classroom Tuesday. Instead, he was in a courtroom. Holler, 37, appeared before an El Dorado County Superior Court judge. He pleaded not guilty to eight felonies, four counts of showing pornography to a minor, and four more counts of contact with a minor for sexual offense. The District Attorney wrote in court documents that despite Holler’s “outward appearance as a pillar in the educational community — he has a sexual interest in children that he has kept hidden for some time.”Court records show Holler was on the messaging app, “Kik” when he met who he believed was a 12-year-old girl from Philadelphia. She sent photos that the DA said were clearly pictures of a prepubescent minor.Records show from Holler’s principal office, Pollock Pines home and the Pleasant Valley Market, he sent pornographic videos and naked pictures of himself. He also asked questions about her virginity. According to the records, Holler made plans to visit the girl over Thanksgiving break and described in “gross detail all the sexual things he planned to do to her” after “kidnapping” her and taking her to a hotel.Documents also reveal in the messaging app with the girl, he bragged about seeing 10 of his own students topless in his school office and that he would have his students be topless in exchange for no detention. In another conversation with a minor from the UK, he said another student touched him in his office. The Pioneer Union Superintendent sent a note to parents earlier this week saying the lead investigator told him no students from the district have been identified that are related to the incident. The DA said the investigation is ongoing and is asking the community to come forward with any information that could connect the principal who they call a “child predator posing as child advocate for at least a decade.”Holler is being held on no bail and the district attorney wants it to stay that way. They said he is a flight risk and could possibly molest a child if out of jail and that he could hurt himself. Court records say he has made comments that he might do that since he will lose his wife and his job.Prior to his role at Pioneer Elementary, Holler was the principal at Gold Trail School in the summer of 2017. Before that, he was a teacher at a school in Camino and later became the school’s administrator and assistant principal.Holler is expected back in court on Oct. 27 for a bail review.
