Congratulations on making it to the end of another school year! We’re sure that everyone is excited to celebrate and looks forward to a fun filled summer. The New Castle Police, Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Chappaqua and Millwood Fire Departments want to help you keep your kids safe, and remind you that now is a great opportunity for families to have important conversations around safe celebrating and safe teen driving.
Review and discuss with your child your family’s rules about safe celebrations, including underage drinking and other drug use, car use and any restrictions associated with your child’s driver’s license. Consider your family’s curfew and be aware that inexperienced junior drivers are often asked to be designated drivers for seniors celebrating the graduation season.
Because New Castle first responders take our children’s safety seriously, both the police and ambulance corps increase staffing during the graduation season. Remind your child that they may be more likely to encounter first responders at this time of year. Also encourage your child to call 911 if a friend is in danger from drugs, alcohol, or anything else; it is important to remember that safety should always come first.
Congratulations to our graduates and their families, on behalf of our organizations we wish you all happy and safe celebrations and great future success,
- Chief James Carroll, New Castle Police Department
- Captain Marc Hirschfield, Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps
- Paul Eiden, Chief, Chappaqua Fire Department
- Jorge Rodrigues, Chief, Millwood Fire Company
