Ayron Taylor (Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office)

A former New Jersey police officer was hit with nearly 100 new charges stemming from allegations that he hacked the social media accounts of women and girls and then distributed any illicit images he uncovered.

The latest charges brought against Aryon Taylor on Friday include child pornography, endangering the welfare of a child, and computer theft, News 12 New Jersey reported. He’s also facing counts of official misconduct because some of his alleged crimes occurred while he was on duty as a Mount Laurel police officer.

An investigation into the matter was initially launched in September 2022, after a victim contacted Evesham Township Police Department, telling authorities that her Snapchat and Facebook accounts had been hacked, according to ABC 6. She said the hacker then sent nude photos she had taken of herself to her Snapchat contacts and messaged them to her Facebook friends.

The images were also posted directly onto her Facebook page, police said.

Taylor was arrested the same year after authorities learned of additional victims, all of them at one point students at Rowan College of Burlington County. Investigators said the ex-officer was able to hack approximately 5,000 student email accounts in total, through which he was able to gain access to at least 20 social media profiles. He was indicted at the time on 87 charges.

Taylor, who joined the Mount Laurel Police Department in 2021, was immediately suspended following his arrest.
