A 44-year-old man accused of child abuse has appeared in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court.

After being convicted and handed a suspended sentence for possession of child pornography in Australia, a 44-year-old man returned to South Africa under dubious circumstances, going on to allegedly rape and molest his nephews.
The man, who cannot be named until he has pleaded to the charges, was summonsed to appear in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on 19 July.
His first court appearance was brief, as the matter was merely postponed for the disclosure of the docket as investigations had been completed. He was warned to return to court on 8 August.
