Facebook launches portal to help parents guide children on social media

To help parents better guide their children on making the right choices on Facebook, the social media giant introduced a new online resource available in over 55 languages on Wednesday (Dec 14).

The Facebook Parent’s Portal offers practical tips like how parents can set ground rules when their child turns 13 and is old enough to join the social media platform, and how they can let their child know that rules that apply offline are applicable online too.

For parents who are not Facebook users, the portal also teaches them on how the social media platform works, its accompanying privacy, safety and security features.

Facebook is working with safety partners around the world on this initiative to offer expert advice on local contexts. In Singapore, the Media Literacy Council and Touch Community Services are Facebook’s local safety partners.
