Matthew Joseph Ferrell, 39, of Golconda, was sentenced on Wednesday, Aug. 23, in Pope County Circuit Court.
According to Pope County State’s Attorney Jason Olson, Ferrell was sentenced to 42 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and three years to natural life of mandatory supervised release for the offense of criminal sexual assault, three counts, each Class 1 felonies, and 150 days in county jail for the offense of unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor, a Class A misdemeanor.
“Mr. Ferrell must register as a sexual predator for the period of his natural life,” Olson said.
According to the press release from the Pope County State’s Attorney’s Office, the charges stem from incidents between Oct. 31, 2021, to Jan. 13, 2022.
The investigation of the charges was lead by the Pope County Sheriff’s Department with the assistance of Two Rivers Child Advocacy Center.
The defendant must serve 85% of his sentence, which was handed down by Pope County Circuit Judge, the Honorable Judge Carey Gill.
