WATERTOWN- A North Country man took a plea deal this week in connection to a law enforcement sting back in June, targeting child sexual predators.
Brian LaPlatney, 30, of Harrisville, NY appeared in Jefferson County Court on Tuesday, pleading guilty to attempted rape in the second-degree.
These updates are according to the latest from WWNY-TV. With sentencing aimed for late November, he is expected to receive a decade’s worth of probation.
LaPlatney will also be required to register as a sex offender.
According to investigators, LaPlatney was among nine others who were busted while law enforcement posed as children online and agreed to meet in person.
The multi-day operation was executed in June, with members from the New York State Police, FBI and Army’s Criminal Investigative Division participating.
