FLORIDA – A new study ranked Florida as one of the most dangerous states for online dating.

The Sunshine State’s ranking came from the number of reports of romance scams and instances of identity theft or fraud reports, among other issues.

Florida is the fourth most dangerous state for online dating, according to Privacy Journal.

It’s the second worst state for identity theft and fraud, and the seventh worst for becoming a victim of romance scams.

Here are some tell-tale signs experts suggest looking out for to prevent falling for a scammer:

  • Asking you for money

  • Making excuses not to meet in person

  • Giving you a complicated sob story

  • Telling you to keep the relationship a secret

  • Giving you reasons they need money now instead of later

A scammer will always ask you for something.
