Former sexual predator to be released in Madera County, deputies say | YourCentralValley.com | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man who was previously classified as a Sexually Violent Predator has been released and will no longer be classified as such, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday.

According to deputies, on Thursday a judge in the Merced Superior Court ruled Ciro Camacho should no longer be classified as a Sexually Violent Predator and ordered him to be released from the California State Hospital, despite what deputies say is opposing evidence presented by the Merced County District Attorney’s Office.

Camacho, according to sheriff’s officials, was convicted of multiple counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under 14 years old in 1993. Upon release, Camacho indicated he would be residing in Madera County.

Deputies indicated they have no influence over the outcome of the hearing nor the decision made, and said they were not involved in the proceedings as well as they have no authority to challenge or alter the judgment rendered in his case.

We are deeply disappointed in Judge Jamieson’s decision to release Ciro Camacho, particularly in light of the strong opposition by the Merced District Attorney’s Office. Should Camacho relocate to Madera County, we are fully committed to enforcing all state registration requirements and keeping the public informed. Our top priority remains the safety and security of our community members, and we appreciate the Merced District Attorney’s Office advocating for the continued detention of this individual.

Tyson Pogue with the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Camacho remains in custody at this time.
