The Apache Junction Police Department will hold a child-safety event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at the Apache Junction Public Library. Child fingerprints and photographs will be taken, and child safety information will be available at no charge.
It is being held in conjunction with the annual Take 25 child safety campaign that takes place during the month of May along with the National Missing Children’s Day on May 25. The campaign, launched by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, was initiated to encourage parents and communities to take 25 minutes to talk to children about ways to protect themselves. Information is available online at www.take25@ncmec.org, according to a press release.
National Missing Children’s Day serves as an annual reminder to the nation to renew efforts to reunite missing children with his or her families and make child-protection a national priority.
For more information on Take 25 or the child-safety Event, call the police department community resource coordinator at 480-474-5442 or e-mail her at scarney@ajcity.net.
