Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) Commissioner Spencer R. Moore has recently been appointed to the Evidence Based Cybersecurity Research Group (EBCS) advisory board affiliated with the Georgia State University Andrew Young School of Policies Study. As Commissioner of the state’s driver’s education, testing, and licensing agency, Moore guides approximately 1,000 team members, and oversees the credentialing security of Georgians’ identity documents.

“I am honored and pleased to join this prestigious advisory board,” said Commissioner Moore. “This board could not be more aligned with our mission and one of my top priorities, which is to provide secure driver and identity credentials to our customers.  As cybersecurity threats become more common and advanced, I look forward to collaborating and continuing to build an effective data security strategy.”

With 8,555,930 valid Georgia drivers and expanding customer self-service licensing and identity technology, Moore has been a champion of protecting the data and security of one of our most important processes. Through his association with the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA), the Commissioner has become a leading authority on security and data protection including the deterrence and detection of fraud involving personal identity, motor vehicle individuals and agencies, and law enforcement.

“Spencer’s inclusion in our advisory board will greatly enhance our decision-making processes and contribute significantly to our group’s growth and success. His unique perspective, experience, and networks align perfectly with our strategic objectives, and his involvement will bring immense value to our team,” said David Maimon, PhD Professor and Director, Evidence Based Cybersecurity Research Group, Georgia State University.

EBCS is composed of a dynamic advisory board that provides strategic guidance, innovative insights, and industry-leading expertise. It is  dedicated to generating empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness

of tools and policies which aim to prevent and mitigate online crime.

As a member of the EBCS Advisory Board, Commissioner Moore will be responsible for providing strategic counsel, reviewing and evaluating initiatives, and offering guidance on key matters pertaining to the research group’s development.

Commissioner Moore has held a variety of leadership positions throughout his career in state government, including sitting on the International Board of Directors for the Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).  He also serves on the State Employee Benefit Council, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Board, and Georgia Driver Education Commission (GDEC).
