A drug user twice turned up uninvited at his ex-partner’s house before carrying out assaults. William Heath was banned from going to his former girlfriend’s address under the terms of a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO).

But the 39-year-old dad turned up in the night and smashed the door before throwing a phone charger at her head. He returned to the property two days later and pushed a door when she was standing behind it, leaving her with a sore arm.

Now Heath, of Ashbank Road, Werrington, has been sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. And he was made the subject of a restraining order which prevents him contacting his victim for three years.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Power said Heath was handed a DVPO on July 24 which prevented him from contacting the complainant or going to her address. But overnight on the evening of August 12 and 13 she heard loud banging and the back door being smashed.

Miss Power said: “She phoned the police but was unable to say who was responsible. Her front door window was also smashed but no-one was located.

“She felt a little easier after the police attended and decided to take a bath. She heard smashing downstairs and saw the defendant. He called her a sl*g. She threw a power bank charger at him. He threw it back at her and it hit the left side of her face. It cut her face under her left eye. He collected his belongings and left.
