GREEN BAY – An elementary school teacher was booked into Brown County Jail Wednesday on suspicion of sex crimes involving at least one student. David Villareal, 46, is being held on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff, two counts of sexual contact with a child under 13 causing great bodily harm, causing mental harm to a child, repeated sexual assault of the same child and child enticement, according to online records.

Formal charges haven’t been filed yet.

Villareal is a bilingual second-grade teacher at Baird Elementary School, according to the Green Bay School District’s online staff directory.

In a letter to parents, district administrators said they were aware Villareal was arrested, “for allegations of inappropriate contact between himself and students at Baird Elementary School.” He has worked for the district since 2014 and has been placed on administrative leave.

Administrators said they won’t provide more information, as the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the allegations is asked to contact the Green Bay Police Department.
