Hacker Selected as EKU’s NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee

RICHMOND, Ky. – Emma Hacker, a former student-athlete on the EKU women’s basketball team, earned EKU’s nomination for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year award for her performance on and off the court.

RICHMOND, Ky. – Emma Hacker, a former student-athlete on the EKU women’s basketball team, earned EKU’s nomination for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year award for her performance on and off the court.
 
Hacker graduated from EKU with a 3.8 cumulative GPA and earned a Bachelor’s of Biomedical Science with a Pre-Med concentration and a Minor of Chemistry. This upcoming fall, Emma will be attending the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill and intends on studying in its nation-leading pharmaceutical program.
 
Alongside her nomination for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, Hacker was named to the ASUN Conference Winter Winners for Life Team after helping the women’s basketball squad reach the ASUN Championship semifinals for its second consecutive year as a member of the league.
 
Off the court, Emma served as the Vice President of EKU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for over two years and regularly volunteered her time on campus and in the Richmond community.
 
She departed the women’s basketball program appearing in 90 games with 40 starts while scoring 577 points and bringing down 250 rebounds. Hacker, standing 6-foot-3, etched her name in the EKU record book with 72 career blocks, which sits eighth in program history.
 
The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2023.
