The village of Hoffman Estates is investigating a recent cybersecurity threat to its computer network to identify its scope and return to full functionality as soon as possible.
Critical community services including public safety weren’t affected by the threat, officials said. And public access to the village’s website, payment system, permitting portal and vaccine appointment scheduling remain operational.
The village has engaged the assistance of cybersecurity specialists in its ongoing response to the threat.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding and apologize for any inconvenience as we continue these efforts,” officials said in a statement.
