An investigation has led Hopewell Area School District officials to conclude that a network disruption last week impacting Internet and phone service was the result of a “sophisticated ransomware attack.”In a letter to parents Monday, Superintendent Jeff Beltz said state and federal law enforcement had been informed of the attack, and the district is working to learn if any data on the school’s network had been breached. Hopewell had been hit by the network disruption Thursday, causing a service outage during the school day, an earlier letter from the district read. According to Monday’s letter, the district is working with outside specialists to look into the incident and restore normal network access.
