Hugh Grant’s phone-hacking claims against the publisher of The Sun have been thrown out by a High Court judge.

However, allegations of unlawful information gathering relating to a burglary at his home, and tracking devices placed in his car, will go to trial.

The actor, 62, is suing News Group Newspapers (NGN) after claiming he was targeted by journalists and private investigators. NGN denies that any unlawful action took place at The Sun. The publisher sought to have claims by Grant and the Duke of Sussex dismissed, having argued that both men had left it too late to pursue legal action.

In a ruling on Friday, Grant was told his claim would proceed to trial, save for the allegations of phone hacking. Mr Justice Fancourt
