Identity Thief Racks Up $23,700 In Out-Of-State Insurance Claims: Glenview Crimes

GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department as a record of police activity and includes both incidents reported by the public and arrests made by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ARRESTS

DUI

Paul Seghers, 48, of Mobile, Alabama, was arrested June 19 shortly after 11 p.m. in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Police accuse him of driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding fewer than 14 mph over the limit, improper lane usage and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Bruce Mikka, 33, of the 100 block of East Devon Avenue in Roselle, was arrested at 11:13 p.m. on June 19 in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with domestic battery.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE AND IN-STATE WARRANT

Gregory Salzmann, 30, of the 200 block of Whippletree Drive in Wheeling, was arrested shortly after 4 a.m. on June 20 in the 2100 block of Pfingsten Road. he was charged with criminal damage to property and taken into custody for a Lake County warrant.

DUI

Glenn Stevens, 53, of the 10000 block of Linda Lane in Des Plaines, was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. on June 22 in the 500 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

IDENTITY THEFT

Kenosha Carter, 23, of the 900 block of Springfield Avenue in Chicago, was arrested June 22 at 7:53 a.m. in the 2200 block of Compass Road after an investigation. She was charged with identity theft.

DUI (DRUGS)

George Lewkowicz, 34, of teh 1800 block of Hawk Lane in Elk Grove Village, was arrested June 24 at 1:21 a.m. after a traffic stop in the 700 block of Elmgate Drive and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle.

BATTERY

Samuel Sungjin Yoon, 36, of the 2100 block of Rugen Road, was arrested June 24 at 2:10 p.m. in the 1400 block of Lehigh Avenue and charged with battery after having an altercation with another person.

DUI

Francisco Arellano-Gomez, 21, of the 800 block of East Old Willow Road in Prospect Heights, was arrested shortly before 1 a.m. on June 25 aftera traffic stop in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also cited for driving without a license (which aggravates a normal charge of DUI into a felony offense), improper lane usage and disobeying a traffic control signal.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On June 20 at 3:31 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Plymouth Place reported someone threw food products on their patio.

THEFT

On June 20 at 4:46 p.m., a resident in the 2500 block of Waterview Drive reported someone took their social security check for a loss of over $1,000.

BURGLARY

On June 20 at 5:06 p.m., a resident in the 1800 block of Robincrest Lane reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway and stole a purse from inside during the overnight hours for a loss of $20.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

Shortly after 5 a.m. on June 20, a resident in the 200 block of Washington Street reported someone entered two unlocked vehicles parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and stole a backpack reportedly worth $130

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 20 at 7:45 p.m., a resident in the 2000 block of Robincrest Lane reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and stole documents and keys for a reported loss of $2.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 20 at 7:13 a.m., a resident in the 600 block of Spruce Street reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours and scattered possessions around the passenger compartment without taking anything.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 20 at 8:53 p.m., a resident in the 2100 block of Robincrest Lane reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and stole $1 worth of documents.

BATTERY

On June 20 at 9:40 p.m., a patron in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported he was pushed by a man in the laundry room during an argument over clothes.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

On June 20 at 9:54 p.m., a resident in the 3700 block of Maple Leaf Drive reported someone failed to control their dogs and became offensive when confronted about it.

DISTURBANCE

On June 21 at 12:01 a.m., an employee in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported a patron caused a disturbance at the operations desk.

BURGLARY(TO VEHICLE)

On June 21 at 5:29 a.m., a resident in the 900 block of East Glenwood Road reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and took a wallet for a loss of $250.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 21 at 7:15 a.m., a resident in the 900 block of Echo Lane reported someone entered two unlocked cars parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and took $20 from inside.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 21 at 7:52 a.m., a resident in the 900 block of East Glenwood Road reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and stole a coin purse and change for $15 in loss.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT

On June 21 at 11:50 a.m., an employee in the 900 block of Waukegan Road reported receiving unwanted telephone calls at work.

THEFT

On June 21 at 1:10 p.m., a resident in the 1000 block of Castilian Court reported someone stole a package from their porch for a reported loss of $250.

HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE

On June 21 at 12:44 p.m., a resident in the 1100 block of Indian Road reported receiving unwanted texts and telephone calls.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICES

On June 21 at 2:34 pm., a resident in the 1200 block of Pfingsten Road reported receiving a fraudulent check in the mail which was deposited in a bank account for a reported loss of $1,600.

BURGLARY (TO OFFICE)

On June 21 at 2:16 p.m., an employee in the 2000 block of Johns Drive reported someone broke in and stole money from an office for a reported loss of $500.

IDENTITY THEFT

On June 21 at 3:56 p.m., a resident in the 1800 block of Culver Lane reported someone used their credit card information to make $3,200 in out of state purchases.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT

On June 21 at 4:04 p.m., an employee in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported receiving unwanted telephone calls.

THEFT

On June 21 at 8:01 p.m., a resident in the 1900 block of Dewes Street reported three bicycles left unlocked and unattended in the front yard were stolen for a reported loss of $1,000.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

On June 21 at 4:28 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Pleasant Lane reported someone entered their house without permission.

UNWANTED PERSON

On June 22 at 2:25 a.m., an employee in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported someone was on the property and refused to leave.

THEFT OF LOST PROPERTY

On June 21 at 3:37 p.m., a customer in the 2800 block of Pfingsten Road reported a lost wallet worth a reported $95.

THEFT

On June 22 at 6:05 p.m., a patron in the 3800 block of Willow Road reported someone broke into the locker they was using at the gym and stole a wallet for a reported loss of $25.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS

On June 23 at 1:41 a.m., a resident in the 400 block of Brook Lane reported several subjects entered a vehicle on their and a neighbor’s driveway, but there was no reported loss.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 23 at 1:55 a.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Huntington Drive reported someone entered two unlocked vehicles parked on the driveway. The reported loss is $1,000, but police did not say what was reported stolen.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 23 at 3:15 a.m., a resident in the 2400 block of Fir Street reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and took a binder for an undisclosed loss.

BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)

On June 23 at 10:11 a.m., a resident in the 2300 block of Linden Leaf Drive reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the driveway during the overnight hours and took $300 worth of electronic equipment.

FRAUD

On June 23 at 4:16 p.m., a resident in the 4700 block of Lilac Avenue reported a $1,900 loss after receiving a fraudulent check online and depositing it in a bank account.

IDENTITY THEFT

On June 23 at 4:24 p.m., a resident in the 2400 block of Rebecca Lane reported $7,000 in unauthorized charges on their banking statement.

THEFT

On June 24 at 10:05 a.m., a resident of the 900 block of Church Street reported an online purchase had been delivered with an empty box. The reported loss was $1,800.

IDENTITY THEFT

On June 24 at 5:11 p.m., a resident in the 1900 block of Franklin Drive reported someone used their identity to file insurance claims out of state for a reported loss of $23,700.

RETAIL THEFT

On June 24 at 5:20 p.m., an employee in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported a subject walked out of the store holding a basket full of an unknown quantity of alcohol without paying for it.

DISTURBANCE

On June 25 at 7:05 a.m, a resident in the 300 block of Nordica Avenue reported someone was pounding on their door and yelling.

IDENTITY THEFT

On June 25 at 11:03 a.m., a resident in the 2700 block of Park Lane reported someone opened a credit card using their name, but there was no reported loss.

ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT

On June 25 at 7:32 p.m., a resident in the 900 block of Kings Lane reported receiving unwanted text messages.

On June 26 at 10:21 a.m., a resident in the 1600 block of Winnetka Road reported receiving unwanted text messages.

THEFT

On June 26 at 11:08 a.m., a resident in the 2600 block of Chestnut Avenue reported someone took over their computer and made $9,000 in bank transfers.

FORGERY

On June 26 at 4:15 p.m., a resident in the 1500 block of Fielding Drive reported someone attempted to cash a forged check.

TELEPHONE HARASSMENT

On June 26 at 4:35 p.m., an employee in the 3700 block of West Lake Avenue reported receiving unwanted telephone calls.
