Incident Response Specialist

Job Description
The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) is currently seeking an Incident Response Specialist within its Security Architecture and Incident Management Division. This position is responsible for day-to-day activities of the COV security incident response group which collects, analyzes, and classifies security incidents as well as coordinating statewide responses to security threats. This position partners with internal and external security organizations to monitor security threats and recommend mitigating actions or response. Specific responsibilities include the following: collecting all computer security incident information; responding to information technology security incidents within its jurisdiction; assisting agency computer security response teams as requested; ensuring that investigations are routed to the appropriate jurisdiction; initiating and conducting authorized investigations; maintaining the computer forensics lab; creating and disseminating advisories to agencies; improving products and services; reviewing, evaluating, and reporting on Commonwealth threat data and serving as a security response liaison between external directorates and state agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience in the area of IT security incident management; Demonstrated experience in several of the following: computer or network forensics, investigations and incident response activities, associated tools and techniques, LAN/WAN connectivity, and malware analysis; Excellent communication and presentation skills required. Experience creating security incident reports, reviewing procedures and presenting findings in verbal and written reports; Demonstrated project and priority management skills. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and acquire new skills/knowledge to meet customer needs. High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
BachelorĂ¢??s degree in Computer Sciences or a related field; Security certification (GIAC, ISC2, ISACA) and forensics or incident response certification (GCIH, GCIA, GCFA); Experience with scripting languages.
