Earlier this week, the Indiana House passed Senate Bill 150, a bill that allows the use of Artificial Intelligence technology to be adopted by public entities including school corporations. Which “deals with the wonderful but scary world of technology,” according to Rep. Matt Lehman, R-Berne.

SB 150 would create an AI task force to study and assess the use of AI technology by state agencies. It is authored by Sen. Liz Brown, R-Fort Wayne, Brian Buchanan, R-Lebanon, and Ed Charbonneau, R-Valparaiso.

Lehman, House sponsor of the bill, said the measure “keeps the state engaged in the current and future of AI cybersecurity data governance.”

He said the bill does creates a task force that would consist of 15 members from varied backgrounds, requires the task force to study the impact of AI and make recommendations, and identifies challenges and best practices.
