VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man who police say tried to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl for sex at a West Terre Haute restaurant appeared in court Tuesday for his final hearing ahead of a July jury trial.

Jordan L. Jones, of Indianapolis, appeared in Vigo County Superior Court V, where his planned jury trial date of July 18 was affirmed Tuesday.

Jones faces the following charges;

  • Child solicitation to engage in sexual intercourse
  • Attempted possession of child pornography
  • Attempted dissemination of matter harmful to minors (x2)
  • Resisting law enforcement

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, the charges stem from the events of April 13, 2022. On that day Jones reportedly went to a fast food restaurant in West Terre Haute where he was to meet 13-year-old “Eilidh”. What Jones found out upon arriving at the business, is that Eilidh didn’t exist, and was a fake person created by the group Predator Catchers of Indianapolis.

Predator Catchers contacted Vigo County Central Dispatch to inform them they had set up a meeting following multiple online chats with Jones during which Jones sent sexually explicit videos, and requested the 13-year-old girl send him naked pictures of her.

In a chat log sent to police by Predator Catchers, Jones reportedly asked the girl her age after telling her he was about to turn 27. “I’m actually 13,” Eilidh responded. Jones then asked for a picture of the girl and after being sent a fully clothed image, Jones responded with a picture of a nude man along with the message “u like”.

On another occasion, Jones reportedly sent images of a naked man pleasuring himself in a chat on the Tagged app to ‘Eilidh’.

Predator Catchers and police didn’t have a chance to ask Jones many questions the day of the meeting, as police say he left the building and began to run from the police waiting outside and was able to avoid capture at the time.

Police said a search of the vehicle Jones left behind, which was registered under his brother’s name, would reveal a wallet with multiple items linking it to Jones.

Vigo County Jail records indicate Jones was placed under arrest on April 29, 2022 where he’s since been incarcerated.

Jones’ jury trial is scheduled for July 18 starting at 8 a.m. in Vigo County Superior Court V.
