Information Security Analyst I

The Information Security Analyst I position is a non-exempt, full-time staff position which reports to the Information Security Analyst Officer.

The Information Security Analyst I will participate in identifying, evaluating, implementing and monitoring appropriate security controls to provide assurance for the security of Chapman University’s infrastructure and information.  The Information Security Analyst I will monitor and analyze Chapman security response systems to identify security issues for remediation. Communicate alerts regarding intrusions and compromises to the network infrastructure, applications and operating systems. Perform periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system and external Web integrity scans to determine compliance. Support compliance of information security policies and standards. Work with applications developers and system admins to address security concerns.

This role may work some evening and weekend work hours as needed. The position performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for the Information Security Analyst I.

Specific Job Requirements: Demonstrated operational knowledge and understanding of the functional area being supported by the position. Demonstrated knowledge of current security tools; communication protocols, encryption techniques/tools, network security, information security technologies and practices. Knowledge of commercial security products and technologies. Demonstrated Enterprise Systems Knowledge. Experience in ID management implementation and maintenance.

General Job Requirements: Strong analytical skills to test and troubleshoot security and escalate security concerns when appropriate. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities. Ability to record, track, correspond, and document resolution of user problems. Ability to foster cooperative work environment. Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data, intellectual property and other information assets, and to comply with security policies and procedures. Strong knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.  Strong technical skills to learn and use PeopleSoft security and other enterprise system security needs. Ability to learn, understand and apply policies and procedures. Strong attention to details.

Desired/Will-train: Understanding of FERPA compliance.
