Mortenson is currently seeking an Information Technology Manager with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. We are seeking someone who can easily articulate complex technology platform concerns into business value terminology and will lead our team to engineer these platforms to meet ever changing business needs.


The Information Technology Manager is responsible for managing the administration and support activities for Mortenson’s enterprise technology infrastructure platforms including server, storage, monitoring and middleware technology domains. The manager is providing technical leadership and managerial oversight to members of the team, managing allocated budgets in various areas within the overall ITS budget, and providing input to future technology direction and our annual ITS business planning process.

  • Owns the relationship with key business partners and technology vendors
    • Understands the business needs
    • Understands application and technology roadmap from the vendors
  • Provide day to day management of the team including:
    • Manage the prioritization of issues
    • Coordinate team efforts in supporting day to day support and new capability delivery work
    • Manage communication on open issues and ITS strategies with customers
    • Provide periodic metrics and reports on team activities
    • Ensure secure, stable, resilient and scalable platforms based on business need
    • Manage expenses against assigned budget allocations
  • Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner and has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing systems analysis and technology delivery projects and programs.
  • Possesses the technical expertise to provide leadership and manage the analysis, design and development of the organization’s platform environments.
  • Coach, advise and mentor team members to maximize their own development and work output.
  • Be a change agent with ownership of developing, socializing, and delivering a Hybrid Cloud strategy through the Platform Solutions Team
  • Assist in planning, budgeting and maintaining the team training programs
  • Foster culture of innovation
  • Lead team members by example in resourcefulness and self-starting work habits
  • Problem solving based on information and sound judgment


Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 2+ years of management, supervisory or team leader experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of platform technology experience
  • Experience supporting and managing support of complex enterprise platforms
  • Must have a solid conceptual understanding of technology platforms in scope and foundational architectural elements
  • Working knowledge of ITSM processes, terms and operational support success factors

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with Windows and Linux virtual server environments
  • Experience with Cisco and VMWare server components
  • Experience managing cloud based infrastructure


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and/or equivalent experience
