The IT Studies program at TSTC in North Texas (Red Oak) is currently seeking applicants for an opening as an Instructor for Cyber Security. Position Overview : 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Organize and present instructional material at scheduled times and locations.
  • Maintain communications with students and colleagues to assure efficient and effective instruction.
  • Evaluate student progress and modify delivery to ensure student success and assign grades.
  • Maintain records of student’s attendance, progress, departmental supplies, parts, equipment and other items.
  • Develop, implement, and review effective teaching and learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools.
  • Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect the current levels of knowledge in discipline.
  • Participate in New Student Orientation prior to each semester.
  • Participate in recruiting instances, such as Open House and High School visitations.
  • Design and implement training on best practices associated with the use of technology to meet course learning outcomes

Must be proficient with knowledge and practical application in the following areas: 

  • Current Cisco CCNA or able to earn Cicso CCNA certificates within 12 months of hiring. (CCNA Security desirable)
  • Protocols such as DHCP, IP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, STP, RSTP, VTP, IPS, IDS, and DNS.
  • Linux and Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems.
  • Computer forensics.
  • Computer security
  • Network techniques, both physical and virtual.
  • Experience working with Web 2.0 tools

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Associate’s degree in an Information Technology field is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Three years minimum hands-on experience.
  • Cisco CCNA certificates or able to complete relevant Cisco CCNA certificates within 12 months of hiring.
  • Understanding of tools used for digital forensics.
  • Familiarity with virtualized networks.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
  • Understanding of best practices associated with online pedagogy and course design
  • Understanding of accessibility and universal design
  • Ability to work well in a team with individuals from different disciplinary backgrounds and with varying levels of technological experience
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate workload
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances

Annual Salary: Dependent on skills and experience.
