Ipswich District Child Protection Week Symposium | #childsafety | #kids | #chldern | #parents | #schoolsafey


The Ipswich District Child Protection Week Committee (Queensland Police Service, Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs, ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service, Ipswich City Council and Somerset Regional Council) is again facilitating the Ipswich and West Moreton Region Child Protection Week Symposium on Tuesday September 5, 2023.

The Symposium will be facilitated from 9.30am to 1pm at the Ipswich City Council Building, Level 1, Event Space, 1 Nicholas Street Ipswich. The cost of the symposium is $15.50 which includes a light lunch.

The symposium is aimed at child and youth service providers, school support staff, health professionals and students studying in the human services field. The symposium is an educational and engagement event that provides an excellent opportunity for professional development and will address relevant practice issues relating to child protection.

The guest speakers this year include;

Sarah O’Regan, Evolve Therapeutic Services – the importance of child safety and
child protection in those first 5 years and the psychological effects.
Nicole Moller, Jaghu Program – Mums and bubs program which supports
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families for the important first 1000 days of life.
Precious Ndlovu, Lotus Support Coordination Services – young people with a disability,
risk of sexual violence and exploitation, appropriate and inappropriate sexual behaviours.
Raymond supported by Create Foundation – CREATE Foundation is
the national consumer body representing the voices of children and young people
with an out-of-home care experience.
Youth Co-Responder Program Team Leaders, police and youth justice staff who
patrol the streets and other locations where young people congregate, exploring
ways to divert young people from the youth justice system.
