Ipswitch, the leader in easy to try, buy and use IT and network management software, with offices in the U.S., Ireland, Netherlands and Japan, has earned compliance with the demanding data security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI).
The rigorous third-party examinations were administered by the professional IT assurance and compliance staff at 360 Advanced, a respected national Qualified Security Assessor, HITRUST CSF Assessor and Certified Public Accountant firm based in Tampa Bay, FL.
“We offer more secure solutions than the competition, but we wanted to prove it. We determined which compliance regimes mattered most to our core customers, and we went after them,” said Kevan Bard, Director of Cloud Operations at Ipswitch, who has been a managed file transfer expert since 2000. “With the strong support of our executive management team, we determined we would complete PCI followed by HIPAA, and we have achieved those designations as planned. We are very mission-driven.”
Bard commented that many software vendors advertise that “our product can help you,” or “support you” as their clients pursue compliance and IT security. “But, when you are a SaaS provider, it better not just help you, it had better deliver. This is the right thing to do. That is our culture at Ipswitch.”
Bard said the designations are considered as highly valuable tools on two levels: “We have real experts in this space and are able to market more effectively because we understand the evolving compliance needs. And, if a customer experiences an external audit, our adherence to these compliance standards can make that customer audit experience less painful and maybe a couple of days shorter. That is real business value. And, it has absolutely been a business development enabler,” he explained.
