Description: General Statement of Duties

The Systems Analyst serves as primary contact for any questions related to how the system works from both a business and technical perspective. The analyst partners with business liaisons to translate software requirements into technical specifications and partners with software developers and QA analysts to develop logical technical processes. The analyst also performs basic cost-benefit calculations, interdependency analysis, and prioritization exercises related to systems changes.

Performs advanced technical duties in supporting information services and systems for the Airport Authority by providing analysis, design, configuration, testing, implementation and documentation on supported operating systems, file and application servers and storage systems.
An employee in this class is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving operating system server hardware and software problems, as well as desktop software issues. This individual installs and maintains hardware and software applications, converts existing systems into new programs, and implements automated systems for existing manual systems. This person’s role is similar to Microsoft System Administrator. Work also requires performing specialized operating system level tasks that include but are not limited to, installing, patching, updating, analyzing and reporting. Work requires a high level of technical knowledge on hardware and software applications, understanding of networks, and an understanding of computer programming applications. Work is performed under supervision and is reviewed through conferences, observation and review of project progress and completion.

Duties: Duties and Responsibilities
• Installs hardware devices on the computer system/network and performs preventative maintenance on these devices; troubleshoots and resolves equipment and network failures
• Microsoft Active Directory installation, management, and troubleshooting as well as Microsoft Exchange 2010 support
• Assists in implementation of Enterprise Backup and Disaster recovery processes and procedures
• Good working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, DHCP, DNS, WINS and SMTP
• Supports operation of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and interaction with MS SQL technologies
• Supports operation of Enterprise Antivirus Server operations
• Ensures the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions.
• Monitors, maintains, supports and optimizes networked software and associated operating systems
• Administers systems for deployment of user workstations and profiles

• Administers inventory and tracking of support information (manuals, books, binders, etc.) for ISSI library for Systems and Integration Application Support
• Applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments
• Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
• Ensures availability of access to systems while integrating security aspects to maintain system integrity
• Works with integrating new systems and applications into day-to-day operations
• Works with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), vendors and software and hardware vendors to troubleshoot system application and hardware issues to resolution
• Maintains VMware ESX virtual environments, including creating virtual machines, VDI, ThinApps and datastores
• Monitors daily activities of the systems and provides solutions to operational or user related problems
• Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives
• Creates new user accounts and maintains security levels for all applications, databases and servers as required
• Partner with business liaisons and technical teams to understand and define system goals and technical system requirements
• Create technical specifications and processes using structured analysis and data modeling techniques (e.g. activity diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams)
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including, but not limited to: system diagrams and configurations, technical how-to’s, best practices, and procedures
• Prepares and delivers technical presentations and training sessions
• Prepares change requests and maintains configuration control for assigned systems
• Build and leverage automation to decrease overall system deployment and support cycle time
• Participate in system and user acceptance testing efforts
• Build standards, processes and procedures, and guidelines for business liaisons and software developers
• Understand system interdependencies and collaborate with project teams accordingly

Qualifications: Desirable Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, network administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN)
• Working knowledge of virtualization and best practices for virtualization
• VMWare certification(s)
• Major storage vendor certifications
• Microsoft Certifications
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to perform the basic life operational support functions of stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, create reports and general system documentation and do extensive reading.
Special Requirement
• Must be able to pass security background check requirements as required by the Federal Aviation Administration.
• Must hold valid NC Driver’s License
